Two glorious days hiking in a snow forest

A rare and beautiful snow covered Raleigh this week.  Seven inches at RTP airport and in Umstead State Park.  I spent eight hours the last two days hiking on and off trail to immerse myself in this beauty.  Towards the end of yesterday’s hike the snow was melting off the top of the trees and getting wet enough to create ‘snowballs’ on my hiking poles!  The trees, snow and light were magnificent with a different interplay around every corner.
